Practice Philosophy:
I have engaged in practice of law since 1972 and have experience in a wide variety of cases, from real estate development to construction law to unfair trade practices.
On TV and in popular fiction, the practice of law is an epic battle of good and evil and pounding on counsel tables. In real life, however, it’s about advising clients as to their rights, being an effective advocate but also a realistic mediator, and crafting creative, constructive solutions. Since approximately 95% of all litigation settles, a good trial attorney must also be a good negotiator.
Let us never negotiate from fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.
President John F. Kennedy
I will explore all available avenues, from "full-court press" traditional litigation, to formal mediation, to informal negotiation, to achieve the optimal resolution of your problem. In pursuing this course I will:
listen to your concerns and thoroughly discuss your case with you
research and analyze your case and clearly explain your options
set reasonable and achievable goals, promptly execute the strategy and keep you advised of the status of your case
preserve and protect your rights while pursuing a reasonable resolution of the immediate conflict as well as long-term considerations
strongly advocate on your behalf and, if settlement is recommended, settle no sooner than is advantageous
pursue whatever means, whether negotiation, traditional litigation, or alternative dispute resolution, serve your interests best
Effective counseling means that your time, money and resources will not be wasted on burying adversaries in paper, with the attendant expense added to your bill. My goal is to not only work hard, but also "work smart", on your behalf.
